    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity to add my voice to this Bill. At the outset, I want to say that I support the amendments of the Bill, and not necessarily because I am one of the affected gender. Our President took an oath to protect the Constitution which emphasises the need for gender equity and human rights. One of the clauses states that either gender should have one-third representation. This is in the spirit of implementing the Constitution that we all voted for. In an elective position, this can be difficult to achieve because of the perceptions and challenges that candidates might face particularly women. However, just like it was done at the county level, it is important that the gender that will be underrepresented be given the opportunity to serve through special created seats."
