Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, the Bill be amended in the Schedule by deleting paragraph 4(2) relating to the Official Secrets Act and substituting therefor the following new subparagraph— (2). Section 3 of the Official Secrets Act is amended by inserting the following new sub-section immediately after subsection (7) — “(8) The provisions of this section shall apply subject to Article 35 of the Constitution and the law relating to access to information.” This seeks to amend the Official Secrets Act. Presently, Section 4 deals with other matters not just relating to information. As such, it should not be repealed."
