"content": "Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I want to oppose this amendment vehemently. If you own land you should be compensated for the value of the land. The minerals or anything found in your land is described in the Constitution as public land. It is owned by the State. Kenya owns any minerals in any land. If you own land, you will be compensated for the piece of land. You cannot be compensated for the minerals in the land. This amendment will be unconstitutional. I indulge you. If you allow this amendment to be voted for and carried, we will be engaging in something that is contrary to the Constitution. The Constitution already defines public land to also include minerals and oil deposits. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor."
