Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 85 of the Bill be amended− (a) by inserting the following new paragraph immediately after paragraph(a)− “(aa) in subsection (1) by deleting the words “rate prevailing bank rates” and substituting therefor the words “base lending rate set by the Central Bank of Kenya and prevailing at that time”; (b) by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting therefor the following new paragraph− “(b) by deleting subsection (2) and substituting therefor the following new subsection− “(2) If additional compensation is payable under section 119 there shall be added to the amount of the additional compensation interest thereon at the base lending rate set by the Central Bank of Kenya and prevailing at that time, from the time when possession was taken or compensation was paid, whichever is earlier.”"
