    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me the chance to also make my observations on this Petition. We have so many problems regarding the transport system in our country. In fact, in dealing with this Petition, the members of the Committee should cover all the areas related to transport, including recommendations for a proper modern transport system. Even the rescue and fire brigade teams that rush to accident scenes are not properly equipped to help the victims. Kenyatta National Hospital is the only public facility with an emergency wing. There is no other place. Some patients have been taken to private hospitals, where they have been rejected. They end up dying at the casualty departments. I support and agree with the Petitioner that we need to undertake a complete review of our road safety framework to take care of the issues that have been pointed out. I do not wish to debate the Petition, but we need to look at ways of ensuring that we improve our transport systems. Today, I read something to the effect that the Tanzanian Government is planning a new city around Arusha – a city that is properly planned to match the intelligent city of Malaysia. They are also doing special lanes for buses in Dar-es-Salaam. They will be doing the same in Arusha. We can re-organize our transport system to be like the transport systems of countries in the West. They also started from where we are now. There is nothing that can stop us from getting there. With those remarks, I support the Petition and hope that it will bring changes."
