    "content": "farmers. We need to put interventions in the whole agriculture system so that our sugar, tea, coffee and maize farmers can all benefit from Government subsidies. If we just look at one side of the coin, it will not help. We need to see if we can privatise sugar factories. We can agree with Members of Parliament from that area where sugarcane is grown to a good settlement where we privatise them to make them more cost-effective. Once they are cost-effective, even farmers will benefit more. As we stand now, farmers grow sugarcane yet they are not paid for more than six months. That is not fair at all. We need to come up with ways and modalities of seeing how sugarcane farmers can benefit and not the managers of the sugar companies."
