    "content": "I concur with some Members who have said that it is important to support our contractors, but then the mwananchi is refusing to award them contracts. She is saying that those people have failed in the past. They are proposing the Chinese to construct the roads. This is very interesting. Even as we support our own, we need to ask ourselves what has gone wrong, so that we can address that question. It is important that we support our contractors. In fact, any road below 20 kilometres is supposed to go to the citizens of Kenya. Any road above 20 kilometres is open to other people. However, our people are proposing to award the contracts of roads which are below 20 kilometres to the Chinese. Are the Chinese taking over the contracts in this country on public interest? It is important to address those issues because we are talking of economic growth and development in this country."
