"content": "How did that person who never went to school produce a child who is a medical doctor or an engineer? I am sure if Hon. Gumbo goes back to his great grandfathers, he will realise that they never went to school but they took him to school and educated him. So, do not look down unto those who have never gone to school. Members of Parliament (MPs) serve here as MPs. They have the right to be in any committee. They should have basic education so that you can read the title of a Bill or a Motion and tell whether it is a money Bill and see whether you can disagree with Hon. Jakoyo and Hon. Kaluma, who is a very stout lawyer. When fish is imported from China, they can come here and say: “No, this is morally wrong.” I support but I want to say that, as leaders, we must not equate leadership to education. In the last Parliament, I made a mistake of supporting a Bill that was capping MPs to a degree level. I was with Hon. Jakoyo. We kept on singing in that old Chamber where the Senate is that people must go to school. However, retired President Kibaki was a man of wisdom. He returned back that Bill and said: “No, this is not the way Kenya should go.”"
