    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I welcome your Communication in respect of firearms in the House. My intervention to that is that many Members in this House and the Senate are licensed firearm holders. From my experience, many Members do not know how to handle firearms and keep them safe. Lately, we have had experiences at the airport in Kisumu when some Members were surrendering their firearms for safe custody before they board. A Member’s firearm has gone off by mistake on two occasions as he was surrendering it for safe keeping before boarding. I have noticed a Member’s firearm left in a toilet. I have seen a Member with his firearm on the table. In view of all this, my impression is that many of us are not sufficiently trained in security and safety at handling firearms. Therefore, I kindly ask that you instruct the Office of the Chief Serjeant-at-Arms to coordinate with Members so that those who are not keen and knowledgeable in safety and use of firearms have facility to be trained to do it. Firearms in the hands of untrained people are very dangerous. I humbly submit."
