"content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity to make my contribution. I have waited for it patiently from 2.30 p.m. up to now. I am grateful I have been given the chance to oppose this Bill. Under the current spirit prevailing in this country, this Bill is quite premature. We have formed a Joint Select Committee composed of members from the National Assembly and the Senate on issues of electoral reforms. It could be worthwhile to combine all this under that Committee so that we could deal with it. I know the issues of the IEBC. I do not support the removal of the current Commissioners. Possibly, we will get a stable country which will enable us to build the economy. This Bill could have been very good because it is addressing critical issues. However, the issue of timing is what I find to be a big problem with this Bill. I would have supported it but I will now oppose it because of timing. I really love some of the issues which are being addressed here. I welcome the issue of reduction of the number of the Commissioners from the current nine to four because that would reduce the cost of running the Commission.
