They can expand their services to rural populations and people who do not have easy access to finance. In fairness, we know that banks have lately expanded access to credit for most Kenyans, but that access has come at a very high price to Kenyans. Most of them are not able to service their loans because the interest rates are too high. This coupled with the fact that many Kenyans are financially illiterate or half-literate, they do not read the small print and they do not understand what they are getting into when they go through the excitement of signing up for a loan.
