I do not think this is a contentious matter because Departmental Committees of the House are provided for in the Standing Orders and their respective mandates are spelt out. The issues raised in this Motion, and I hope Members will internalise them, touch on the respective mandates of about four of our Departmental Committees, namely the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade, Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs and the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security, among others."
