"content": "Yes. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for realising that. I also must appreciate the work that has gone on in the Senate. Exploration and exploitation of petroleum has brought a lot of grief to many countries. If you look at the Senate amendments, you will find that they were really protecting the environment. You know what happened in Ogoniland. We are all aware of that. There has to be transparency in contracts and operations. We know countries have lost millions and billions of shillings, dollars or whatever because of that. They were also looking at proper processes of acquisition. Many land owners have suffered for many years. That has been put in place. Generally, there has been very strict control. This is important at the time we are starting to utilise oil in our country and exploring for more. I hope the forthcoming negotiations will equally carry the sense of responsibility that we have seen here. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker."
