    "content": "The Petition against Medanta Africare Group of Companies and Hospitals having been considered, the Committee raises very important questions in the healthcare in this country. It raises the issue of referral of patients outside the country. We are aware that for various reasons, ranging from cost to efficiency and effectiveness of service, many patients are referred outside this country to seek treatment in other hospitals. What has come to light through this Petition is that as of now, we do not have a policy or a clear system of referral of patients. What is going on is that sometimes patients are referred without relation to the outcome of the disease and treatment they are going to get out there. It seems to be motivated, to a large extent, by the business approach that is being pushed and promulgated by the countries that are receiving these patients. Sometime, we noticed that some referrals are actually done directly between the patient and their families and the hospitals and the professionals abroad."
