"content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for raising that issue. Firstly, I am in full agreement that this Act needs to be repealed. At the time it is being repealed, we need to look at some of the ramifications, if any. The first one I would like to mention is a substantial property which borders Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and Nairobi Hospice. That substantial property is in the name of Kenya Regiment Territorial Force (KRTF). When this Act is repealed, I am sure that a system will be put in place to revert that property to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). The second element is that there are retired soldiers; a number of them from Nyanza, western and all over Kenya, who initially started in the KDF but for some reasons they were transferred to the KRTF where they retired. They were to be given pension. I am not too sure whether that pension is still coming from the British Government or not. It is good that we want to get rid of colonial baggage, but we also want to recognise some of the beneficiaries who might still be alive. On the issue of property, where does it go? Who should benefit from that property, or does it revert to the KDF? Thank you, Sir."
