"content": "At the outset, I would like to say that the statement by the Mover that the economy has been growing for the last two years at the rate of 5.3 per cent, followed by 5.6 per cent and that we are projecting the growth to go to 6 per cent this financial year, is welcome news and it shows that the country is moving in the right direction in terms of economic growth. As the country is growing at that high rate, and as we move towards the 7 per cent economic rate per annum that we experienced before the Post-Election Violence in 2007/2008, it will be very important for us, as Kenyans, to ensure that this growth of our economy trickles down to the common mwananchi . It is one thing for the economy to be growing and impact on the rich and the super-rich--- It will be very important if this economy grows in a manner where it trickles down to the common man and woman in the village, so that they can also benefit from the good financial management of this country. There are very many factors that determine the impact of the economic growth. These factors could be different for various counties and constituencies. Where I come from in Central Kenya, we were heavily impacted by the illicit brew and the so called third generation brews. We have already overcome that challenge by 70 per cent and we can say that we are seeing our young men and women being able to contribute to the economic welfare of this country."
