    "content": "The proposed amendments in this Bill are basically aimed at introducing fairness and equity in the taxation regime. Billions are collected by betting, lotteries and gaming companies and they have not remitted their obligation to Kenyans. This law also tries to protect members of the public against fraud. The taxes they will pay will stimulate economic growth. This small Bill is only dealing with taxation. It proposes a tax to be known as the “Betting Tax” which will be chargeable at a rate of 7.5 per cent of the gross betting revenue. To Members who contributed, this is an opportunity to raise the levels of taxation. In my opinion, 7.5 per cent is too low."
