"content": "when you have laws to regulate such? I want you to allow us to amend this Bill to make sure that Commissioners are appointed in the right manner. You cannot give the President two names to choose from and yet, he will also be a candidate in the coming elections. You cannot give him nine names for him to appoint seven, when he will be a party in the coming elections. Sen. Kiraitu and Sen. Orengo should have seen those anomalies and corrected them. Even in the last law, Kibaki and Raila were supposed to consult. Now we are saying that the President can appoint commissioners to the IEBC without consulting anybody else. We have also been told that we cannot change that. We must change it and ensure that what is being proposed here fits within the law and the aspirations of Kenyans. I support the Bill."
