    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I do not want to be left behind in contributing to this important Motion. I want to thank colleagues who attended the Global Conference of the Commonwealth Ministers of Education in the Bahamas. As our country gained Independence in the early 1960s, one of the key priority areas was education; fighting ignorance means educating people. To date, as a country we are still grappling with the low levels of education, low literacy levels and the disparities that exist in our nation. Certain regions in this country register about 90 per cent literacy levels in terms of education, but some of the areas have as low as 30 per cent, particularly in Kuria where the Chair comes from and areas like Wajir.
