    "content": "Thank you very much, Hon.Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this important Bill. The Competition (Amendment) Bill aims to promote and safeguard competition in the national economy and also aims to protect consumers from unfair practices. It also provides for the powers and functions of the Competition Authority. Hon. Speaker, research indicates that the Authority has been experiencing challenges when conducting market research and seeking information from stakeholders. With the advent of this Bill, it can now be possible for the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) to get information from major stakeholders. Generally, this Bill contains provisions that propose to impose an obligation on stakeholders to provide information and also for CAK to impose penalties for non-compliance."
