    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to be very brief. Hon. Ottichilo has brought a very important Motion to this House. As a result of this Motion, we can hear the Members of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives telling us what has been happening behind the scenes and what has not been presented to this House. We need to be fair to Kenyans. The GMOs are very important to this country and this is a matter of national interest. As the Committee is proposing, we can allow them about two weeks to present this report to the House. Based on that report, we can debate this Motion and see whether we need to add anything. That does not mean that we take what the Committee has been doing lightly. What they are telling us today, they should have told us a year ago. We are concerned. I get concerned when I hear Members talk about personal interests in matters of national interest. We need to separate personal and public interests. Where we have matters of public interest, we need to rise above private interests. We can allow them about two weeks."
