"content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to comment on this Petition that has been brought by Hon. Arati. I hope the issues that have been raised in this Petition are not before any court of law. We have many underprivileged Kenyans who are desperately looking for jobs like those of house-girls and watchmen. They have a right to be paid the minimum wages as required by the labour laws. They have a right to join trade or workers unions so that their rights are protected. As much as we do not want to force people to take back the rotten or rebellious employees, it is important that the Committee looks into the issue of intimidation by the employers who want to make sure that they have very docile people doing a lot of work for them with very little pay. This is not an isolated case, but only that the employees of Lavington Security Guards were courageous enough to present a Petition through their Member of Parliament. The Committee should find a permanent solution to this problem. It should be a warning to companies that want to do easy business by just registering a security firm and underpaying their workers. In our houses and farms, we have employees who do not get minimum wages and statutory deductions and yet, they have nowhere to go. It is an important issue because many Kenyans in that level of employment are suffering. I support."
