"content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this chance. I also wish to support the enactment of this Bill. This animal called ―contempt of court‖ has been mysterious and many people do not understand what it is and how to deal with it. Previously, we did not have a clear law on contempt of court and we have been relying on precedents and common law from the United Kingdom. If this Bill is passed, people will have a point of reference instead of the mumble jumble of court decisions in the past. I am happy that ―contempt‖ is defined in this Bill, but we also need to refine the Bill a bit. I have had a look at Clause 6, which says: it is contempt of court if somebody: ―assaults, threatens, intimidates or wilfully insults a judicial officer ...or in going to or returning from the court to whom any relevant proceedings relate.‖"
