"content": "ALLEGED CORRUPTION AND MISAPPROPRIATION OF FUNDS AT THE NYAMIRA COUNTY GOVERNMENT Hon. Senators, pursuant to Standing Orders 220(1)(a) and 225(2)(b), I hereby report to the Senate that the petition has been submitted through the Clerk by three residents of Nyamira County regarding alleged corruption and misappropriation of funds at the Nyamira County Government. In their petition, the petitioners state that funds allocated for implementation of various projects and initiatives in Nyamira County have on several occasions been diverted either to private groups associated with them or direct for the benefit of the county governor and his family members. Among the affected projects and initiatives cited by the petitioners is the Nyamira County Small Holders Commercialisation Programme where it is alleged that grade livestock, quails and greenhouses purchased under the programme were diverted to the governor’s home. Consequently, the petitioners pray that the Senate investigates this matter and makes appropriate recommendations to address the situation.
