"content": "counties. This House through the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights enacted a legislation called The Petitions to County Assemblies Bill. This House passed but it is pending in the National Assembly. The reason why you see members of the public in counties petitioning the Senate is because there is no mechanism or proper infrastructure for them to present them to the county assemblies. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I use this opportunity to ask the National Assembly to look at the many Bills that we have presented, approved in this House and passed to the National Assembly. They should approve them in order to benefit Kenyans. However, members of the county assemblies need to ask themselves serious questions. When they see the influx of petitions to the Senate, what does it say about the public confidence in them? It is important that county assembly members re-examine their fidelity to the law in terms of carrying out oversight so that we can reduce the number of petitions to this House and encourage members of the public to petition the county assemblies having faith that they will be dealt with at that level. With those few remarks, I beg to support."
