"content": "amendments under Clause 4 of the Agriculture Bill while giving room to utilize the currently established electoral process which has worked well. Also, the Ministry’s Bill is more comprehensive in terms of representation. It seeks to empower key industry representatives and gives autonomy to the Board. The Chairman shall be appointed from among nominated industry representatives, and industry representation is set at 50 per cent. The Member’s amendment seeks to empower the Minister in determining the chairmanship of the Board and limiting the Board’s autonomy, contrary to the spirit of the new Constitution, and the debate that took place in this House on this Bill."
