    "content": "The hospital management sought and obtained staff reinforcement from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and the National Youth Service (NYS) to assist the hospital cope with the situation in critical areas. In addition, the matter was reported to the Permanent Secretary in my Ministry seeking intervention by the Ministry. In the afternoon of the same day, after speaking with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, hon. Kenyatta, the Ministry of Finance approved an additional Kshs550 million to meet the cost of commuter allowance for the staff of the four parastatals in my Ministry. This includes the Kenyatta National Hospital, the KMTC, the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency. Shortly thereafter, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Union and the Ministry of Medical Services on the basis of which the employees returned to work and normal services resumed from 6.00 p.m."
