    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance. Before I say anything, on behalf of my constituency of Likuyani, let me pass our condolences to the families of our soldiers who passed away in southern Somalia recently. Secondly, I am very puzzled that we are now talking about hunger and lack of maize and other foodstuff yet just two or three months ago when we were harvesting maize in the North Rift and parts of Western Kenya, the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) gave very low prices. Farmers demonstrated and the Government said it had raised prices to about Kshs3,000 a bag. When we took our maize to the NCPB, we were being given another condition that we can only sell to the NCPB if we got subsidized fertiliser from the Board. That is very absurd. Two months down the line, we do not have enough maize to feed our people. To me, it is not just bad, but immoral. Where we have reached now, we are still talking about hunger and drought.
