Temporary Deputy Chairlady, these amendments are intended to deter the management of early childhood education centres from imposing additional charges or disallowing pupils to attend school due to non-payment of additional costs. This is to ensure that all the children in the country attain basic education. This will apply to head teachers and those teachers who take care of children in ECD centres. If they impose additional charges, they shall be dealt with accordingly by law to deter them."
