When we enacted the new Constitution in 2010, the people of Kenya believed that we needed to put down what values and principles govern our society. Those values and principles of governance in Article 10 are not just there out of a need to decorate the Constitution. They have a serious societal purpose, which is to serve. That is why we ensconce in our Constitution the value of patriotism, need for unity, equity, devolution and sharing of power and other values."
