"content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for making such comments to our students. I know they will be encouraged leaving this place knowing that you have recognised them. We need to make basic education compulsory for all people. For the parents who do not take their children to school, it must be an offence that can be dealt with so that every person in this country makes sure that his children have basic education. In addition to that, if we provide basic education to our children at an early age, communication in this country will be good because wherever you go, even if you do not know the vernacular of that particular tribe, you can communicate using the official languages of English and Kiswahili. By doing so, we can eradicate tribalism in this country. One of the things that encourage tribalism is language. When you go to an office, you may find people speaking in vernacular. You may find the same in an institution that serves all people. So, when we have compulsory basic education for all our children, we will make sure that each one of them has the skill to communicate using the official languages, namely, English and Kiswahili."
