"content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have another statement to seek. I rise under Standing Order No.45(2)(b) to seek for a statement on pollution by way of playing loud music in Loresho’s Lions Eye Hospital and the upcoming construction of a temple and auditorium in Loresho residence from the Chairman of the Committee on Land and Natural Resources. The Chairman should state the following:- (1) Is Lions Eye Hospital licensed to play loud music in the hospital, up to and including at night to the detriment of the patients and residents of Loresho surrounding the hospital, contrary to the regulations on noise pollution by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)? (2) What is the Government doing to stop this health hazard that is a threat and an inconvenience to:- (a) The patients at the hospital; and, (b) Residents of Loresho? (3) What is the Government doing to ensure that the patients including the legendary footballer Joe Kadenge who were previously admitted at the hospital are compensated? (4) What is the identity of the religious group that intends to construct a temple and an auditorium in the residential area? (5) Could the Chairman table all documents that authorised and licensed the construction of the above? (6) Is the Government aware that the new facilities of the intended construction include a parking for over 450 vehicles and that the development will cause a serious strain on, amongst others, the sewerage system far surpassing the capacity that serves the current Loresho residents and if so, could the Chairman table a separate plan showing the expansion of the sewerage system and other social amenities in Loresho residential area? (7) Could the Chairman, through the Cabinet Secretary (CS), order the stoppage of playing of loud music and construction of the temple and auditorium until investigations on this matter are concluded? Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank you."
