"content": "The matter is serious in the sense that it governs the conduct of Members, particularly those who are given the responsibility by the House. The Member should respect that responsibility and the other Members who gave him that responsibility. In view of that self-declaration by the Hon. Chair of the Committee, is it in order for him to continue to hold that position to the detriment of the coalition that sponsored him? Is it proper that the conduct of a Member in those circumstances can be condoned by the House? I say so because these Standing Orders are based on the Constitution which states very clearly that the powers of a Committee of Parliament are equivalent to those of the High Court. Is that how we expect our High Courts to behave? If the High Court misbehaves, we complain. What about if we misbehave ourselves? I wish to ask for your guided direction on this issue. It is a very serious issue."
