    "content": "Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I beg to move:- THAT, the Senate adopts the Report of the Joint Parliamentary Select Committee to review the Procedure and Rules for election of Members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) laid on the Table of the House today, Thursday, 6th April, 2017, and pursuant to section 12 of the East African Legislative Assembly Elections Act, 2011 and Article 50 of the Treaty for the establishment of the East African Community, approves the East African Legislative Assembly (Election of Members of the Assembly) Rules, 2017. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, this is a very important exercise in the history of this House. For the first time, we are participating in a very important exercise of electing Members who will represent the country in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). First of all, I thank the Speaker and the Senate Business Committee (SBC) for considering that I would be worth to serve in this Committee. Subsequently, I was elected to be a co-chair of this very important inaugural Committee under the bicameral legislature which will deal with matters of electing Members who will represent the country in the EALA The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
