    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Amendment Bill concerning insurance. Recently, we came up with a new Act on insurance operations in this country. In fact, the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has done quite a good job in controlling the way insurance companies operate in this country. The history of insurance began with something akin to gambling about 500 years ago, especially when ships went into foreign lands and there was a guess as to whether they would come back or not. It has now grown to be a very big industry where even its requirements are that certain aspects of our lives today are insured.
