The Kenya Trade Remedies Agency (KTRA) is meant to be an independent agency which is mandated to investigate the dumping of good and also ensure commitment towards the WTO Trade Remedies Act. One of the objectives of this Bill is to protect domestic industries from foreign competition and unfair trade practices. We have been to WTO meetings. We always find ourselves very disadvantaged because one or two members of staff at the Kenyan embassy in Geneva are always overwhelmed. They are also used to push for designs by certain Ministers who have no idea about what they are talking. The Trade Remedies Bill has been in the process of enactment for nearly 15 years now.
