"content": "I am particularly impressed because it is very rare for the Senate to have been involved in such processes. This one has also given us an opportunity to make an input on a very important assembly like EALA. Mr. Speaker, Sir, my other comment is similar to the one by Sen. (Prof) Kindiki on independent candidates. We are not fair to them. There a quite a number of able Kenyans who understand issues of legislation, are well-educated and are able to represent our country at greater levels. However, they were kept out because these things are not in the rules. It is unfortunate that this has happened and in future we need to look at the rules. We must conclude this process as envisaged by the 4th of June, 2017. I know that is possible because the Senate has worked in a bipartisan manner and there is very little in terms of distractions when it comes to issues that matter to the interests of the nation. All of us have the interest of the nation and our people at heart. I call upon the Senate, irrespective of the side you sit on, to pass these nominees in the coming week without any further delay. I second."
