Temporary Deputy Chairman, this is to amend Kenya Deposit Insurance Act, 2012, so as to give the Cabinet Secretary some power under exceptional circumstances to extend the term of receivership of a bank for a further period not exceeding 12 months. Circumstances may arise that may require that receivership of a bank be extended pending further consultation and looking for the way forward for the affected banks."
