Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move: THAT, Clause 28 of the Bill be amended─ (a) in sub-clause (1) by deleting the word “Commissioner” and substituting therefor the word “Director”; and, (b) by inserting the following new sub-section immediately after subsection (2)− “(3) An asylum seeker shall report to the nearest government administrative officer who shall then direct him or her to the designated refugee reception officers.” This amendment is in line with the restructuring of the refugee affairs secretariat which is now headed by the Director for Refugee Affairs.
