"content": "“Notice is given that pursuant to Article 126(2) of the Constitution of Kenya, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, give notice that the first Sitting of the Twelfth Parliament – The National Assembly, shall be held at the main Parliament Buildings in the National Assembly Chamber, Nairobi, on Thursday 31st August 2017 at 2.30 p.m.” Hon. Members, the commencement of this Sitting was subsequently amended through a corrigenda published in the Kenya Gazette Supplement No.132 of 2017 dated 25th August 2017 to change the time from 2.30 p.m. to 9.00 a.m. in order to align it with the requirement of Standing Order No.3(7) which provides as follows: “Notwithstanding Standing Order No.30 on hours of sitting, on the day when the election of Speaker is to be conducted after a general election, the sitting of the House shall be commenced at 9.00 a.m.” Accordingly, Hon. Members, this Sitting is hereby convened."
