    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. First, I want to start by thanking the Almighty God for seeing us through this far. The other day, after the President’s Speech, as we walked out catching up with my colleagues, I realised it was the first term for most of them in Parliament. We were trying to ask ourselves what it really takes for one to be in Parliament. We agreed in totality that it takes the hand of God. In fact, to quote one of my colleagues, “ Ni Mungu tu”. Before I proceed, my name is Sylvanus Maritim from Ainamoi Constituency, Kericho County. Let me sincerely thank the people of Ainamoi for giving me an opportunity to represent them for the next five years. I assure them that I will set my best foot forward to represent them. Two, congratulations are in order for my colleagues and the Hon. Deputy Speaker. To the President’s Speech, I applaud him for having recognised the youth in various leadership positions both elective and in various appointments. It is, indeed, inspiring to have a President who not only recognises the role of youth, but also gives them an opportunity to serve the nation. I know we are a living inspiration to thousands of youths. I assure them that we are not going to disappoint them. If anything, we are going to mentor them. We are going to set the record straight. It will go on record that the youth in this Parliament have done their best to uplift and set the best examples. Secondly, the President mentioned peace and stability. If there is anything that is going to drive us forward, it is peace and nothing else.
