    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the establishment of this Select Committee. This Committee is very important because it seeks to fill the gap that is occasioned by the boycott that we are witnessing here. In my opinion the boycott is inconsequential. This is because if you were to look at the provisions of the very Constitution, you would realise that people are trying to abdicate their duties, but avoiding being declared not to have attended sittings. By default they go ahead to validate the plenary sittings of this august House. Our own Standing Orders provide that this Select Committee will conduct the business that would otherwise be conducted by the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights which is supposed to do the following: “To consider all matters relating to constitutional affairs, the organization and administration of law and justice, elections, promotion of principles of leadership, ethics and integrity; agreements, treaties and conventions; and implementation of the provisions of the Constitution on human rights.”"
