"content": "The late Gov. (Dr.) Gakuru will be remembered by this country in many ways; not only as a very sociable and pleasant man, but also as a practical leader who has contributed largely and greatly to this country’s development. His record is there for everybody to see. He served as the Director of Vision 2030 and helped to initiate various projects in this country. He will be remembered for his track record and also for what he had intended to transfer to the people of Nyeri County in terms of development. I also would like to take the opportunity to wish a quick recovery to the three colleagues who were with him in his vehicle, that is, his bodyguard, driver and personal assistant. We wish and pray for their quick recovery. To the people of Nyeri County; there is still God above. Let me also take this opportunity, since I come from Kiambu County which is slightly part of where the accident occurred, near Kabati, to also appeal to the Ministry of Transport. That particular place is known to be a black spot and so many fatal accidents have occurred there. I personally escaped by a whisker while cruising on that road during a rainy season. Therefore, it is high the time the Ministry took the necessary corrective action to ensure that we do not have any other fatalities. Mr. Speaker, Sir, lastly, I saw on social media quite a number of images being sent around. I would want to urge Kenyans not to continue sending very graphic images of the accident and the victims, so that we can give the family time to mourn. There are questions that we need to ask the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) and those who do installations on the roads. When two or three accidents occur under similar circumstances, where the side road railings pierce through vehicles, what are they telling us about the safety of those installations?"
