    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order 46(2)(b) to seek a statement from the Senate Majority Leader regarding the status of female prisoners and children held in prisons and remand facilities in Kenya. In the statement, he should:- (i) Provide the statistics on women and children held in prisons and remand facilities countrywide. (ii) State the capacity of the facility vis-a-vis the number of women and children held or detained there in. (iii) State the number of trained personnel manning these facilities and whether they are sufficient to guarantee the safety and security of the detainees. (iv) Explain what the Government is doing to ensure women and children detained, held in custody or imprisoned enjoy the rights and the fundamental freedoms in line with Article 51 of the Constitution of Kenya. (v) Outline the measures that have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of women and children held in correctional facilities."
