Members, I wish to make this short Communication regarding the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Games to be held in the United Republic of Tanzania from 1st to 11th December 2017. The East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games were established by a resolution of the fourth EAC Legislatures Speakers’ Forum held in 2009 in Arusha, Tanzania. The meeting resolved to be holding inter-parliamentary games for the EAC partner states on an annual and rotational basis, with an aim of enhancing relations between EALA and the parliaments of the EAC partner states as envisaged in Article 49(2)(a) of the EAC Treaty. Kenya was privileged to host the most recent edition of the games in 2016, in Mombasa. This year’s games will be held in the United Republic of Tanzania from the 1st to 11th December 2017. Participants will compete in the following sports/disciplines: (a) Football. (b) Volleyball. (c) Netball. (d) Athletics. (e) The tug of war."
