    "content": "very important to raise the economy of this country. Of course we passed the Mining Act in 2015, upgrading from the very old Acts that we had. Some of the key areas that need to be looked into are one of the long-term policy direction and the legal framework. You will notice that before it was a haphazard way of handling the mining sector, but now we have a legal framework to address some of these issues. Secondly, provide a strategy for clear, simple, predictable and transparent accountable licensing procedure. I remember in the past the licensing procedure was haphazard. Now it has been streamlined by the policy, where licensing has a procedure that will be followed. Thirdly, the policy provides for a well-structured, globally competitive fiscal regime which has always happened. As a country we have moved from just mining and selling the raw mine as it is. Like the exploration that was done for petroleum, instead of selling crude oil we can refine that and get different gas and petrol to compete globally for this very important product. It also enhances the acquisition, processing and dissemination of geological and mineral data and information to investors and other key stakeholders. I think this is a crucial point that we need to look at. It also provides for a strategy for marketing, promotion and value addition.
