(a) The selection of the projects will be implemented based on the Lake Basin Strategic Plan 2010/2012 which is derived from national priorities such as Vision 2030 and the Millennium Development Goals, among others. (b) It is not true that the Lake Basin Development Authority has not invested in Kuresoi and the entire Mau area because there are conservation programmes currently being undertaken in the area by the authority. (c) The creation of regional development authorities is based on the drainage systems of the major rivers and the large water bodies. Thus, the vast Mau Water Towers is adequately covered and addressed by the Lake Basin Development Authority for the rivers draining into Lake Victoria and the Ewaso Nyiro South Development Authority for those draining into Lake Nakuru and the Mara ecosystems."
