"content": "Kindly, allow me to thank God at this particular time. My maiden speech has dragged on, but I can never forget to thank God who has made me to be here. I want to thank and celebrate the Almighty God. The Bible teaches about God getting people from a heap of rubbish and making them to dine with queens and kings. That is who I am. I have had an opportunity I may not have had in my life to dine with kings and queens, and with all of us who are Members of this House and with outsiders. Parliament gives us an opportunity to sit and dine with queens and kings. For that reason, I thank the Almighty God. I cannot take long to remember my constituents, the great people of Rangwe, for giving chance to a female candidate to represent them in Parliament for the first time in the history of the constituency. Homa Bay County did us proud, especially in the greater Nyanza, for bringing to Parliament four women. Those of us who have a rough idea of Homa Bay politics and what is done to women there during the electioneering period, do appreciate that this is a record breaking achievement for women in that county. I thank the people of Rangwe Constituency for trusting my leadership and putting it upon me to take them to the next level of development by voting for me overwhelmingly. The people of Rangwe, I say thank you very much. I cannot forget the women leaders who have been here ahead of us, and elders who have made other people have faith in other women leaders. I will always want to remember, as she rests in peace, Prof. Wangari Maathai, Grace Ogot and many other female leaders. I can never forget the iron lady Martha Karua. I also want to remember my mentor and someone whom I have severally had to consult, Mama Phoebe Asiyo. I want to remember the current Members who are serving in the 12th Parliament, but have been here before. They have given us an opportunity to be elected. I am celebrating Cecily Mbarire. I thank God for Hon. Florence Mutua and all of you who were here. You have done a good job. I may not mention your name in person but the work you did when you were here last time has made you to come back. You have contributed immensely to the wellbeing of people in the various areas of representation such that they have allowed us to come here. I do not want to forget Millie Mabona, who comes from my county. I celebrate Commissioner, Hon. Gladys Wanga, together with Dr. Eve Obara and all the female candidates from the county I come from. On my part, I promise the people of Rangwe that it is not going to be business as usual. I am going to deliver the way a woman delivers. We all know that the only thing a woman can do that a man cannot do is to give birth. So, that push that a woman gives so that she gives birth and brings life is the same push I am going to give Rangwe Constituency so that it has a new life. It is going to be work. We are going to have buses that are going to be bought through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) – money that has never been in our constituency. We are going to work to make sure that maternal and child deaths are reduced by working together with the county government since this function has been devolved. I also empathise with the situation of Early Childhood Development (ECD) system in our various counties. The ECD classrooms are pathetic. I do not know what happens in other constituencies but I want to give my energy and a lot of effort to the education of the girl-child. Besides, I do not want to forget about our sons. Many times, we have paid more attention on the girl-child as we leave our sons to the gun. It is very special to me.
