    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this very important Motion by Hon. William. No one in this House or elsewhere cannot underscore the importance of trees in our lives. We need to support this Motion because for the longest time that I have been working around my constituency, I have come to realise that some of the rivers that were at one time very big are now very small streams. I remember, as small boys, we could go and swim in those rivers and do some fishing. We can no longer do that because they are very small streams. There is always a correlation between afforestation, deforestation, soil erosion, productivity and food security. When we cut down our trees, we expose our very fertile soils to erosion. These soils can no longer be productive. So, we compromise our food security as a nation. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
