"content": "I think it is important that chairs of departmental committees take cognisance of the issue raised relating to the Budget Policy Statement. As you know, in our own rules, particularly in our Standing Orders, the CS for the National Treasury is required by law to table that Report not later than 15th February every year. Again, what has just been said is the true position. So, the committees and the chairs have only seven days within which to consider the broad policy issues that may be contained in that statement and, if need be, to be able to appear before the Budget and Appropriations Committee to make representations as they deem appropriate. It is, therefore, directed that whenever a petition is referred to a Committee, the Committee complies with the provisions of our Standing Orders to table a report within 60 days. If for one reason or another you are not able to, come and report to the House so that the House can decide whether or not to give you an The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
